ahh the drug companies.

I can deal with some corruption. The whole Blago thing is hilarious and as this article points out Ive frankly come to expect it. Its practically a fucking tradition. What a fucking role model. His wife sounds like a lovely fucking woman as well. BUT one thing that gets under my skin is corruption in the medical/pharmaceutical field. It kills me. Not to mention all the dietary nonsense they claim is good for your body. Drink milk. everyday says the government agency who happppeennnns to be comprised of CEOs and major share holders in the livestock industry. And not to mention the FDA. which is composed of farmers. A bitttttt of a conflict of interest. And clearly drugs are bad. Except all the adderal (aka amphetamine) that toddlers are on and then the xanax to sleep after that. Rule of thumb: If you have to have drugs to conteract effects of other drugs youre not in good shape. I mean granted I like xanax, valium and (for school) adderall as much as the next kid but I see it for what it is. A DRUG. just like weed, alcohol, caffeine etc. 'but waiiitt, im not an addict, im prescribed!"

Bushhhh

the fucker is almost out, but his ability to damage the country is not over. ick ick ick. Its crazy to imagine what Barack will do as president. Will it be all we hoped for? I truly do believe in him. Sometimes the Repubs manage to set doubt into my heart but a few facts make me feel better. His education. His commitments, values and successes during his time as a community organizer, President of Harvard Law Review (first black man at that), a constitutional law professor at Univeristy of Chicago, and his bipartisan work as a legislator, and in the senate. The man is who he says he is. The conservatives are just trying to make the country believe its all just a clever ploy. I just hope that Republicans will respect and work with him, and that Obama can reach out to them. But shit. only time will tell, and I cannnnttt waiiiittt.

But to rework the focuses and values of a country is a hard pill to swallow for those lost in ideologies that have not created realities. Bush was not working for the people. Well some people.... but just the ones with millions. Being completely for business (read: greed) he lost sight completely of what truly matters. Education, personal liberty, and national safety. By creating such an inflammatory, greedy, aggressive, antagonistic monster out of America I think we are less safe now then we were before Bush. I just want justice. For children, families, future generations, the earth, civil liberties, and human rights. and puppies, flowers, and all baby animals everywhere.

More Palin Hatin

The woman who talks endlessly about how the public doesn't know 'the real Barack Obama' refuses to talk to the press. Or I should correct myself... she wants to talk but her handlers know that she just can't cut it and she's not fooling anyone. Oh wait... well...she's not fooling me.

Republicans

I don't understand how the party that once believed in small government has now become fully motivated by a Judeo-Christian agenda. They have become so obsessed with sexual mores and and religious values to put the government in your body and home. The Republicans would simply like no one to ever get abortions, and don't understand that liberals agree. But you simply cannot stop the action of abortion in a society just like you cannot stop sex. Its a question of coat hangers or not. Really. Harsh but true. And these are the people that don't want an educational focus on contraception, just abstinence. That really worked well for Sarah Palin's family... And then, (my favorite part) then people that are soooo obsessed with "life" fucking love guns and the death penalty.

I know this is not all republicans, but it truly is the core belief system. The other Republicans I know that I truly respect just want to make sure the rich get richer, or they are simply holding on to a party that does not exist anymore.

To save a language

Last ditch efforts to save the Arapaho language, (you know, the one we beat out of native americans in 'boarding schools'?) via a new school in Wyoming.

If youre in the mood...

For more Palin-hatin (my favorite sport). Here's a good opinion editorial. Good if you hate Sarah Palin that is. Its funny though because I feel like all the articles are preaching to the choir. I would love it if some conservatives would give a read to an opinion that the whole media agrees on (except Fox News and Elisabeth Hasselbeck) but I doubt thats happening. Enjoy.

Sarah Palin.... WTF

So everybody knows Sarah P is a fucking joke. I mean its hilarious.... except that shes real!! Not just a figment from the imagination of conservative, gun totin, beer bellied hicks. And everyone knows it. Really. Everyone. This clip cracks me up. Two conservative commentators don't realize they're still on air. O the hilarity.

Sarah Palin

I am truly offended by McCain's reactionary ploy to win the election. Instead of choosing who could serve as president, he chose an ill thought out gimmick. As if any staunch Hillary supporters would vote for an anti- abortion, anti-gay rights, conservative Christian who SUPPORTS ABSTINENCE ONLY sex education just because she has boobies too. McCain is approaching his mid 70s, and seeing as he's already had several bouts of cancer, and the stress that the leader of the free world must deal with its a very viable option that the old man will croak, and we will have a self proclaimed hockey mom be leader of our country. Read more in this article from the gaurdian.

Not to mention the whole Sarah Palin is actually the grandmother not mother of Trig. Considering she never showed, and returned to work the next day I find it pretty convincing. Oh and ps her daughter was pulled out of school for 5 months for "mono".... righhtt..... And sure its just blog rumors now... but that's how the Edwards affair scandal started, and it was alllll true. And now her 17 year old is on to baby number 2! And plans to marry the baby daddy. I feel bad for her to be in the spot light during her pregnancy, but I'm inclined to believe the rumors. I just can't wait for the facts to come out and Sarah Palin to disappear back into alaskan oblivion.

I need

one of these

The effect of Obama on american racism

Neoracism is pretty much white people saying that the fight for racial equality is over. Its grounded in nice sounding, politically-correct ideology that still has not fully surfaced in reality. And the Obama presidency might further this... or so this NY Times article explores.

Things to do in Glen Ellyn, IL

I have spent a solid week moping, watching TV and mourning the loss of boulder. My lifestyle isn't even possible here. No concert venue directly across from apartment building. I no longer live in a town which consists soley of my peers all with in walking distance. No large family of people I love with all my heart. No mountains. I am truly homesick. But alas, I am not there I am here. I can look to a future in New York but gotta live in the moment. And get a life. In Glen Ellyn, IL. UGH.
SO...here's the list my one Colorado sidekick and I concieved of.

1. Ride bikes on prarie path.
2. Jump rope to music.
3. Make pretty jump ropes.
3.Use bubble gun to flood the intersection of bloomingdale and geneva with bubbles, take pics
4. Paint again. and work on selling paintings
5. Start gourmet cooking vegetarian food.
6. Take sewing/yoga/pilates/dance/graphic design classes
7.Quilt banners
8. Actually move in to house
9. Start happy hour book club
10. Acquire more friends
11. Invite them to fancy dinner party
12. Make movies with digi videocam and Mac
13. Get art show at La Spiaza
14. Get a fucking job
15. Go dancing in Chicago (top priority)
16. not get arrested.

GE traditions to do less of

Boulder

This is where I live.

Seriously.

Banksy

No shit. Art's biggest mystery just got figured out. Banksy is identified. The man is legendary; a long career of perfect and poignant grafitti created secretly for almost 2 decades? Im a little sad he's been outed. Im going to opt to not believe the press.

Coldplay

So today I had the pleasure of overhearing someone get REALLY REALLY excited about going to see Coldplay tonight. Really? Coldplay? Im glad people are seeing live music, to each his own bla bla bla. But lets all face it: Coldplay sucks. I mean theyre not completely worthless or anything but they could consider expanding their repertoire from the same melodic patterns and chord progressions to, I dont know something else? A little rythmic variety maybe? But no, the same melodramatic, operatic sappy shit. all the time. And people really cannot get enough of it. Theyre pretty much a poor man's Radiohead, if they're even worthy of that title. I heard that side effects of attending a Coldplay show can be, but are not limited to: to intense boredom, depression, artificially inflated emotions, depletion of creativity and taste, lack of libido, and castration.

the only cure is seeing a Ween show.

Dont worry. Dean and Gene can save you.

Facebook Babies...

Facebook is everywhere and is borderline creepy. Its all too easy to stalk curious high school classmates, or the people I love to hate secretly. And of course, the people who after a few drinks I make fun of publicly. And only God and Mark Zuckerburg know who is looking at my page... "Look at that hippy slut" I can only imagine. Or maybe, "I wish I went to the University of Colorado too" hahaha. jk...maybe. Granted I fucking love facebook. Really though, not gonna lie; i am all about it. Infact I cant even
finish this entry with out checking it. Especially the whole tagging/sharing thing. although after a rowdy weekend some of the pics of me are far from attractive and borderline criminal. (thank god for untagging).

Now that any animal, vegetable, and mineral is allowed to have an account things have gotten weirder. The alias account used to be special and is now common place. Now pets have facebook accounts and I find this all fun and good. Especially if your pet is kick ass cool enough to deserve it (search Ewok Atuna, pictured above). Why not give an amusing possession an online persona? Of course it is merely for the owners enjoyment, I asked Ewok what he thought and he just grumbled and left the room.

BUT there is one helpless possession that does NOT NOT NOT belong on facebook, and that is your baby. Really, people. Your joyous blob of fat is cute and all, but they do not need their own account. I mean what is the future of that? When do they get to start regulating their own page? Kindergarten? When it takes a successful poop in the potty? How do you tell a kid that mommy and daddy have been pimping you out online since the day of your birth? WTF?
